Sears has top secret information about an experiment that was conducted in the 1950s in which his mother was involved. He is mystified by the bizarre tattoo his mother gave him as a child - right before she committed suicide. He goes there and urges the base commander to open a secret vault, which contains a deadly organism that was discovered and bred by his biological father. This deadly organism's tendrils feed on light and warmth and devour everything in its path.
