My fellow Marylanders,
What a wonderful opportunity we have coming up. A chance to make a choice, a chance to make a change. The definition of politics in Webster’s dictionary is "characterized by shrewdness." Well at least the dictionary I'm looking at right now...but it's an old dictionary. And...Shrewd means mischievous...wow...but then again this is an old dictionary. It's not a dictionary written in this time of politics. Because I don't know if any of you have had the time...but great things, historical things are taking place in our country. There is a political race for the presidency that has such passion and focus. All the candidates that have stuck around are more articulate and more determined then ever.
I've had the opportunity to take some time while the Hollywood writers strike has been going on to really pay attention to politics......And I fully support Barack Obama. Because I trust him to stand behind what he says...I trust he will change our nation's overseas policy for the better, he will protect our nation from harm, he will help get this nation's health care to the place it should be, he will back our school teachers, give the much needed support to our police officers, he'll end the war, get our country away from our oil needs, continue to allow freedom for all religious practice, separate church and state, allow American Unions to get stronger...and so much more...but...to make this a brief modern day blackberry letter.
My father who I love and respect...a man who lives by honor and God, saw that this country is in trouble...and he looked to his son to help open his eyes to answers...but in the process he opened my eyes...he pointed out that he saw a man on TV that could make the change we need. That man was Barack Obama. So from a older beat cop and a young Hollywood actor(not so young anymore) please listen to Obama. Pay attention to his words. He has everything it takes to make the changes this country needs. He will move your spirit to a better place. He will energize you. He will help to redefine politics for many of us.
When I met Obama and had a chance to share my story, he looked at me and shook my hand...he said your father said those things because he's sick of the politics. I'm telling the truth. He sees that I'm telling the truth. I will do what I say. That gave me the courage to reach out to those I love and say, " your vote matters..." "Yes we can make a difference." And we can rewrite the definition of many things on this day and every day there after. But you must be energized to vote...If you listen to Obama for a little bit of your day...just see and feel what happens... Go to BarackObama.com Vote for Obama. Thank you for your time, Johnathon Schaech
