May 2007 Newsletter Welcome to the Johnathon Schaech Newsletter for May 2007. I hope everyone has had a fantastic month and watched at least one of Johnathon’s films. Or at least one “shower scene”… for the perverts…!!! Anyway, onto the good stuff…… May was an extremely busy month for Johnathon with filming commitments, DVD releases and Film Awards. Below is a brief synopsis of events, but please visit the web site for more details. Prom Night Prom Night has just finished filming. There is a lot of “positive” interest for this film with the die hard fans. There are even web sites created especially for RPGs (Role Playing Games) where fans write their own scripts and scenarios that star Johnathon’s character, Richard Fenton. Johnathon is getting a lot of good exposure from these RPGs as they create a lot of interest in him with the younger fans who may not have known about him before. The Poker Club The Poker Club started filming May 30, 2007 in New Jersey. Johnathon not only co wrote the screenplay with his business partner Richard Chizmar, but is also starring as the main character Aaron Tyler. His on screen wife is played by Lori Heuring who has previously appeared with Johnathon in 8MM2 and The Mummy an’ the Armadillo. The film is based on the novel by Ed Gorman who is revered as a master by some of the best writers in the world. Little Chenier WOW……. This film is the talk of the town at the moment. It is absolutely flooring everyone at all the major Film Festivals for its stunning portrayal of the Cajun community. There’s so much happening I’m actually thinking of renaming my Latest News page the Latest Little Chenier News page ….:) The film is currently wowing the masses at festivals in London and Wales. Last week it won the Best Feature Film at the Big Island Film Festival in Hawaii. Please visit the link above for a full list of festival wins (rather than me retype them all cause there are only so many hours in the day) haha and links to the official Little Chenier web site. I recently spoke with Jace Johnson (writer/director) about the success of Little Chenier at the Bayou Festival in May and he kindly offered the following: The response was great. It is such a hard dialect, and a culture people in Louisiana are very protective and particular about. Especially in Lafayette, the epicenter of Cajun Country. That it withstood their scrutiny was wonderful. We weren't in competition there, we were doing it as a tribute to one of our Cajun actors, Mark Krasnoff, who was from the Lafayette area, and passed on in September 2006. That Thing You Do The release of the Director’s Cut has been fantastic and the extras on the 2 DVDs are very much appreciated by the fans. There’s even interest in starting up a TTYD convention. That’s how much of a cult following this film has… I have added a link to a Podcast Johnathon did recently with 971freefm. It’s quite long, but very informative and full of laughs…. well worth a listen. Love the references to Harvey Keital and Rose McGowan….. Bit of a chuckle…. Fans have been commenting on how laid back and funny Johnathon appears to be in interviews ….. And that’s because ……HE IS..!!!….. A very grounded, all round nice fella. Very refreshing for Hollywood…. I am continuingly updating the web site as events happen, so please keep visiting. Don’t forget to visit the IMDB and vote for Johnathon’s films. As stated in past newsletters, the IMDB is an Industry Indicator and votes count. All the best to everyone and stay safe Cheers Wendy Moderator http://JohnathonSchaech.net Special thanks to Johnathon Schaech, Jace Johnson (Little Chenier) and Pepe Bojorquez (Sea of Dreams) for their continued support, which allows me to maintain an uptodate, reliable and accurate web site. It is very much appreciated. April 2007 Newsletter March 2007 Newsletter |
